Amazing Love Isn't Always Packaged In a Passionate Romance ~ Sometimes It Can Come From The Eyes Of A Child

I had to share the birthday card that Charlie wrote for me this year for my 46th birthday. One, because I love it so much and want to share it with the world. Two, because in case I lose this precious card, I can always read the sentiment over and over online. I was blown away by his message of love and validation for the things I do that seem to go unnoticed. I know now that the little gestures and my quiet life of walking with God has made an impact on him. Never underestimate your subtle day to day activities. People around you notice ... even if they don't sum it up in words.

Before I share the message and list what Charlie wrote, I would like to remind you that Charlie is eleven years old. He spent about a half an hour writing it while I was in the kitchen cooking. And I didn't coach him on what to write, because I wanted him to express himself freely.

I have shared openly about my divorce and my struggles on this blog. How Matthew 19 Can Save Your Marriage What I haven’t shared is that I have at times regretted marrying Charlie’s Dad … for many reasons. But when I look at my son and see the miracle baby I prayed for, for so long, I cry with remorse because I wouldn't trade him for anything else in this world. I would go through the struggles and tears again to get here … right where I am.

No one’s life is perfect. Even the ones whose pictures seem perfect. It’s best to count our blessings one by one and look up to the One who gave them to us. He lived a perfect life and paid the ultimate price so we don’t have to. Celebrate the moments that take your breath away and make peace with your mistakes. You will find the joy welling up inside you!

Charlie’s Birthday Message on December 29, 2014

Dear Mommy,
Happy Birthday!
I’m so happy to celebrate your birthday with you because it represents another year of your life. Although each year comes with more aging, you never seem to! Ever day you still look as beautiful as the day before. I am so happy that God has blessed you so much! God has blessed you with wisdom, attractiveness, and Himself. Most people have no idea who God is. But of all the people I know, you are the person with the deepest relationship with Him.
I am also glad to have you as a mother because you are the best mother a child could have. You are a great cook, you are loving, caring, disciplined, and most importantly, a child of God. I am so happy to celebrate your birthday with you because it signifies that God is working miracles in our lives.

Love,
Charlie
